Tips & Advice - How do I take good pictures to help sell my house?

The first impression when potential buyers see your add is the photos and poor quality photos will mean that people browsing the web site will skim over your ad in favour of other more attractive one's. Here are a few tips to help you when preparing your images.

1) When taking photos of exernal shots, do this in the middle of the day when it is at it's brightest and ideally when the sky is blue.

2) For internal shots turn on the lights and use a flash to make the image bright.

3) Use plenty of shots. Many sites offer a free service but only allow you 1 photo - we offer you up to 10! Buyers want to see every main room and outside so get plenty.

4) If you have a great view from your home, include a shot of that also.

5) For outdoor shots, hide rubbish bins, kids bikes and avoid things in the shots like power lines or telephone poles.

6) Prepare the shot by clearing away everything not necessary. In kitchen photos remove anything from surfaces and family items such as the kids pictures that are stuck up on the fridge.

7) If you have a friend or family member who is good with taking photos, ask them to do it. If you want you can hire a professional photographer if you are prepared to accept the extra cost. Don't use blurry shots!

8) Edit your pictures to make sure you crop out things like too much ceiling or too much sky in external shots.
